Collectors David Keller and William White share background information on AAA Airlines.

The company's timetables and flight operations mirrored many small, new commuter airlines formed in the intitial post-Deregulation period.

The company was aquired by Midcontient Airlines on April 1, 1985. Midcontinent itself had been formed as a holding company just two months earlier on February 1, 1985. The AAA brand was continued until the company filed bankruptcy in late 1986. Midcontinent then took over former AAA routes in November 1986.

AAA timetables indicated by an asterisk are, in effect, local editions for Omaha as specific nontops between small-town out-stations are omitted. AirTimes lists these as 'system timetables' in the absence of any complete timetables.

At present, there are no known timetables with the Midcontinent Airlines brand. Additionally, while formed as a holding company, no other airline acquistions have been identified.

Midcontinent became a Braniff Express code-share partner in May 1987 with schedules shown in Braniff timetables beginning with the May 14, 1987 edition.
